more people aren't they? >> they are. bart spokesman told me they are expecting to shatter weekend ridership records with so many events going on this weekend. what that means for you if you are heading out the stations will be packed with people, the trains will be packed as well. as people head out to the baseball games, big concerts 2349 city to prepare for the crowds bart will be adding extra cars. that will be starting later on this evening. during the weekend they will have every available train car in service. that is 600 of them. they will also add special event trains. bart will still be operating on its normal weekend schedule. the trains won't be running any more frequently. they will have cars on them. >> bart and city officials really have been meeting for months now. we know we have circled on our calendars. we have been making plans. we are fully prepared for the big weekend. we hope people will choose bart. >> meantime over in san francisco muni will also be adding extra trains and buses. especially to get people to and from the giants home playoff games on saturday

development of bart, people were enthusiastic and bond measures were passed, and three county sign in to the visionit was a three-hour trip to san francisco and now it is a 41-min. trip from dublin to montgomery street. one of the things that we need to do inside of san francisco it's some sort of either bart or muni line to the northwest part of san francisco. not many people are enthusiastic about packing up to a 38 bus. that's not a pleasant trip. rather than spending years and years and bus rapid transit, we need to develop a visionary plan and work with all of the agencies and get it done even if the case in a few more years, it is better to have something good. the central subway is a start. the downtown caltrain extension is another start. another thought that comes to mind is, i hope it is a reality by 2018, or whenever we hope to have the extension, using some of those lines also for shorter trains; it could serve places like -- visitation or brisbane, it could go down the peninsula, eventually down the state. we can learn from the past; ancestors used topography by boring

demand keeps going up and up. civic star, bart and muni station. one of things that's nice about this, includes improvements inside and outside bart. this is among other funding sources proposed for prop a vehicle registration fees funds which will come before the board next month. similarly, we have two projects that the caltrans depot at forest. the first is a quick fix. caltrans is securing a new vendor and bikes are just stacked up. there's a longer term study to see other fixes. maybe expanding the footprint of the station. second street, i don't need to mention since we just had a presentation. if you're interested, plans and programs on sfgtv. we have it listed as a bike project with input from the mta and the community. the treatment of the bike facility, covering market, sorry, second street between market and king. i will flag as the executive director mentioned. applications for 1 bay area grant funds are due at the end of the month. d.p.w. will submit this for obag funding. another one i want to mention because it's starting to kick off is prop k funded several years ago,

had higher scores than muni. muni was on the bottom. we included bart. since they said other systems did it we decided to look at the systems in paris france. it took months to identify the right officials and in this case either the head of operations or the systems schedulinger all but one which was new york agreed to an extensive interview by two of us and per the rules we were not identified. nevertheless of the interviews as described in the report were significant. all transit systems it became clear had multiple systems that were similar and had challenges and all needed to deal with complex traffic, scheduling, and terrain problems uniquely their own, and yet as we had known the san francisco controller's survey had shown all had higher reliability and rider seaferz than muni and we determined that all systems use switchbacks they only did so in cases of equipment break down or emergencies except for one. one system which happened to be the santa clara mta does use switch backs and interestingly enough their head is the former employee of muni, michael burns, who was a former

and cover about one and one-half miles to city hall. it will be all hands on deck for bart as the transit agency expects record ryder ship with giant fans across the bay area heading to the parade. the best way to avoid long lines heading to the giant parade is to purchase a roundtrip ticket. also bart is recommending that daily commuters get to the station and hour earlier than usual in anticipation of large crowds going to the city. >> our daily commute riders left to be at work at 9:00 a.m. in the city need to know they need to leave a lot earlier p. >> the lots are open to the ppublic after 10:00 a.m.. >> there will run more buses this morning and afternoon if you are coming from across the bay more ferries will be running as well. if you are going to the parade here is the route. it will start near the ferry building heading west on market street. then it will make a right turn on mcalester from there it will go 4 blocks to civic center plaza. at civic center there will be a stage set up for the victory celebration. crosstrees along market and mcallister streets will be close
